Senior Pastor, Bill Bigger
Dr. Bill Bigger became pastor of HVBC in October 2012 after having served three previous congregations as pastor and one as associate pastor. He is a graduate of Davidson College and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and he received his Doctor of Ministry from McAfee School of Theology. He and his wife, Leigh, have two children, Matt and Kaylee. Matt is married to Lauren, and they have a wonderful daughter named Clara. Kaylee is married to Daniel.
Bill enjoys walking, photography, reading, and watching the birds and other wildlife that live in and around the lake in his neighborhood.
Minister to Children and Families, Amy Herring
In 1996, Amy received her Bachelor of Arts in History from Meredith College with Grades 6-12 Social Studies Certification. She taught in Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools for 7 years, and left teaching in 2003 to be a stay-at-home mom.
Amy completed her Preschool and Children’s Ministry Certification through Campbell University Divinity School in December 2013, graduated with her Master of Divinity in May 2017, and was ordained by Hope Valley Baptist Church in May 2017.
Amy and her husband, Jonathan, have one child, Elizabeth. In her spare time, Amy enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with her family.
Director of Music Ministries, Emmett Windham
Emmett graduated from the University of Cincinnati, Conservatory of Music with a degree in Music Education and a Certificate in Church Music. Emmett holds a graduate degree in Choral and Orchestral Conducting from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. Before coming to Hope Valley, Emmett served on the faculties of New England Conservatory of Music, Newton College, and St. Mary’s College. Emmett has also worked for the Boston Symphony and has conducted training courses for Bernstein, Oziewa, and other conductors.
Church Secretary, Robin Wimberley
Robin joined the Hope Valley Staff in January 2014. She is married to Andy Wimberley and has a son, Adam, who is a Senior at UNCG. After being in banking for 30 years, she worked with another church for four years before coming to HVBC. She is a native of North Carolina and has lived in this area all of her life. She is typically in the office from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday.
