What is AWANA? AWANA is a non-denominational ministry committed to “reaching boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and training them to serve Him.” Every week, more than one million children of all ages in 110 countries gather to learn about the Bible and hide its Word in their hearts.
AWANA at HVBC is a fun and engaging club designed to provide children ages 3 through grade 8 an opportunity to increase their knowledge of the Bible and apply it to their lives.
On Sunday, May 19, our Awana club celebrated its end-of-year Awards Night. We are so proud of our clubbers! Thousands of verses have been learned this year, sowing the Word of God into the hearts of these children. 30 clubbers finished one (or more!) books this year and received special awards on Sunday.
Thank you to all the people who have worked so hard to help our children in their Awana time. In the first year Hope Valley hosted Awana, we averaged 30 children a week. This year, we averaged 57 children a week. This growth is such a blessing, but it also brings new needs. Some of our children have been in classes of 18 this year. There are always children who will excel regardless of the class size, but others need more assistance. Can you help our club next year? Can you be a teacher or regular helper? Please be in prayer about this. If you have any questions about what’s involved, please ask Chris or Joy Lawson or Jennifer Bowen.
On March 17, our Awana clubbers had a great time at their Grand Prix races. We had 43 participants this year! Our winners were:
1st place – Caleb H.
2nd place – Sarah B.
3rd place – Will K.

Thank you so much to Erik Hofheinz for his work in organizing and running the Grand Prix! Thank you also to Johnny & Marie Bush, Eric Kyles, and Justin Hayes for judging the Design and Creativity categories.
